{"id":2862,"date":"2023-03-14T19:30:10","date_gmt":"2023-03-14T19:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/?p=2862"},"modified":"2023-03-16T18:44:16","modified_gmt":"2023-03-16T18:44:16","slug":"new_commerce_experience_nce_and_toll_free_numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/?p=2862","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Teams &#8211; Is Microsoft&#8217;s New Commerce Experience (NCE) Falling Short on Toll-Free Numbers?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>While deploying a <strong>toll-free phone<\/strong> <strong>number <\/strong>for one of our customers using Microsoft Calling Plans, we noticed that the number always gave a busy tone. This customer is using <strong>New Commerce Experience<\/strong> (<strong>NCE)<\/strong>, a platform for Cloud Solution Providers (CSPs) that offers per-seat licensing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NCE has the following characteristics: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monthly and annual subscriptions (the monthly subscription is more expensive than the annual one)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once an annual subscription has been activated, it can only be cancelled or reduced within 7 days of activation (upgrades or quantity increases in subscriptions are still possible even after the 7 day deadline)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clients will not be able to cancel subscriptions or change CSP transaction partners during the agreed to term<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The calling plans available in the NCE are <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoftteams\/calling-plans-for-office-365\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoftteams\/calling-plans-for-office-365\" target=\"_blank\">Pay-As-You-Go Calling Plan<\/a> . As outlined in the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/partner-center\/new-commerce-telco-payg\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/partner-center\/new-commerce-telco-payg\" target=\"_blank\">New commerce overage for telco pay-as-you-go<\/a> post, buying <strong>Calling Credits<\/strong> is no longer an option. Instead Overage is used (and we had both the<strong> Subscription <\/strong>and the <strong>Overage <\/strong>enabled)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Overage.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"303\" src=\"https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Overage-1024x303.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2863\" srcset=\"https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Overage-1024x303.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Overage-300x89.jpg 300w, https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Overage-768x227.jpg 768w, https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Overage-1536x454.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/modern-workplace.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Overage.jpg 1843w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pay-As-You-Go calling plans include unlimited minutes of incoming calls. However, this makes sense for a standard users. What happens when you need to configure a Toll Free Number (where actually the incoming calls have a cost on who receives the call?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, on that one looks like the NCEs are not working as expected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only solution we found was to buy <strong>&nbsp;Communication Credits<\/strong> outside the NCE agreement (so the credits have to be bought directly from Microsoft).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As soon as we added the credits, the Toll Free number began working as expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It looks like there&#8217;s a missing piece in Microsoft&#8217;s NCE, and the documentation doesn&#8217;t mention it either.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We deployed a Toll-Free phone number for a customer using Microsoft Calling Plans and noticed that the number always gave a busy tone.
